Alfred Litman has been practicing law in New York for more than thirty-five years, with a long record of accomplishment in a wide range of real estate and commercial matters. A skilled draftsman, he has negotiated complex commercial leases, purchase and sale agreements, asset sale agreements, non-competition agreements, and various other types of agreements that our commercial clients require. In addition to these commercial matters, he also represents clients in the purchase and sale of multiple dwellings, cooperatives, and condominiums. His work does not stop at the closing. He expertly represents many of his residential clients in their dealings with architects and contractors.
The knowledge he has acquired over the course of his career, combined with his attention to detail, has led his clients to seek his advice, guidance, and representation in a diverse array of legal matters. Mr. Litman provides regular advice and counsel to many real estate companies concerning lease administration, the management of capital projects, and the recovery of the costs of such projects. Because he stays current, his practice includes the negotiation of contracts concerning new technologies like the rooftop installation of communications equipment and the installation of emergency power sources.
He has represented clients in the most difficult circumstances. He has handled tenant operating expense challenges at the World Trade Center after the first bombing, assisted the management of a West Street building in closing out the leases after 9/11, and worked with the management of a downtown office building in resolving “Hurricane Sandy” disputes with tenants.
In addition to his real estate practice, Mr. Litman represents a wide range of business clients in commercial matters. His clients include production companies, art galleries, architects, and entrepreneurs. He also represents not-for-profit organizations when real estate or commercial matters arise.
Mr. Litman is involved in a number of professional and extracurricular activities. He was a member of the New York County Lawyers Association and served on its Real Property Committee for years. He has been a co-op board president, a synagogue trustee, and a director of his synagogue’s homeless center.
He is a graduate of Rutgers Law School and a cum laude graduate of Brooklyn College.
